About the artist

Hello. My name is Heidy, pronounced HAY-thee. I am a Mexican-American artist born and raised from Selma, CA. I aspire to create artwork that sparks joy, inspiration and invokes pride within the hispanic community.

Like most artist, my journey began at a young age. I checked out how-to-draw books from the public library, read a lot of Garfield, Calvin and Hobbes, and Marvel comics. As I continued my curiosity of how to advance my drawing skills, I stumbled into anime and manga, which really ignited my enthusiasm to create art.

After graduating high school in 2013, I did not go to college right away, or rather I gave up. It was tough to be on my own and I was a really arrogant kid. For 3 years, life was really giving me a reality check and in 2015, I decided to go back to school. Community college lasted 6 years but I was able to obtain my AA in Studio Arts which allowed me to transfer to a 4 year.

I mention the following because there is this stigma that we need to achieve our goals as fast as possible in order to gain the most in our lives. There is no shame or embarrassment of achieving your goals at a certain age. WE ARE EXACTLY WHERE WE ARE MEANT TO BE.

Please say hello when visiting me in person at art markets, comic/anime conventions and on social media.
